Baroness Scotland QC - The Attorney General
Appointed as Attorney General by Prime Minister Gordon Brown in 2007, the Rt Hon Baroness Scotland QC is the first woman and the first person from an ethnic minority to hold the post.
Patricia Scotland was born in Dominica and raised in Walthamstow. Her careers adviser suggested that she apply for a job as a supervisor in Sainsbury's. Instead she was called to the bar in 1977 where she specialised in family and children's law. As Attorney General she is the Chief Legal Advisor to the Government, and has responsibility for the prosecuting authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Baroness Scotland is married with two children and has a strong Catholic faith. We are honoured that she will give our opening keynote address, in which she will share her experience and discuss the place of Faith in the Public Space.

Nick BoothNick Booth is podcaster and social media consultant based in Birmingham. He moved from mainstream journalism as a documentary maker for BBC 1, BBC 2 and BBC Radio 4 into experimenting with social media in 2005. Besides making audio and video programmes Nick advises organisations on the impact and opportunities of social media, such as blogging, podcasting, youtube, flickr and other social networking sites. He advises the voluntary sector on the strategic implications of technology changes and thinks he's probably the first person in 250 years to be invited to become a Fellow of the RSA for working as a podcaster.
