theMediaNet Academy
A free 3-day training course for young aspiring media professionals 9-11 June 2008 in Swanwick, Derbyshire.
If you're a young Christian who's looking to break into the media or gain new skills, then theMediaNet Academy could be just what you're looking for.
The Churches' Media Council is offering up to 16 FREE places on a 3-day training academy at its annual conference in Derbyshire. With the support and supervision of experienced tutors, trainees will work as part of a multi-platform production team. They will break into smaller groups to work on either radio, video or web content. The content will then be showcased in front of the whole conference on the final day.
All of this happens in the middle of a busy conference, where trainees can mingle with leading figures from the media and faith communities.
theMediaNet Academy will be a great way for learn the ropes and get a head-start when it comes to applying for media jobs. Graduates of the Academy include Christopher Landau (now reporting for BBC Radio 4), Mark Browning (Programme Director of Heart fm), Elizabeth Hunter (BBC1 researcher) and many more besides.
Best of all, it's free, thanks to our friends at Leicester Diocese and the Christian Evidence Society. Training, accommodation and access to the conference will all be provided for you. All you'll need to pay are your travelling expenses and a £30 registration fee. To qualify for a free place, you'll need to be at least 18 but less than 35 years of age at the time of the conference. You must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to Christian faith and/or an interest in working in the faith sector of the media.

If your application is successful we will ask you to complete the conference booking form and send your registration fee of £30. All trainee bookings are subject to receipt of a satisfactory application form and registration fee.
The closing date for Academy Applications is Friday 16th May, with applicants being informed by the Friday 23rd May.
Members of the Academy are normally asked to share a twin room. Single rooms are available on payment of a supplement. Please contact the CMC office for details.
